I have realised now that the problem is that I don't have the relevant drivers installed. I put in the disk for my motherboard drivers, and also tried a downloaded copy, but both gave the same error, which said that the operating system is not supported (though vista is).
The motherboard I am using is the Asus P5K (E3720). I'm not sure if anyone else with the same motherboard has experienced a similar problem, but if anyone has, and has been able to fix the issue, then I would love to know how you did it. Of course any advice from anyone else would be much appreciated.
Well , if you have not got the appropriate drivers for your
onboard LAN and Wireless adapters you cannot expect
Windows 7 Betato enable the
Network -Internet Setup in that Computer. Therefore the very first step before trying to launch your browser to access the Internet, was to check the
Device Manager [
Windows Logo key + Pause/break key-->
Device Manager from the
left pane]to
make sure there are no error symbols against any of the devices especially
Network adapters and
Display adapters as the former gives you the ability to connect to the Internet to download software needed to troubleshoot other issues while the latter makes it easier on the eyes with a properly configured monitor screen. If you find an
exclamation point [!] or
question mark [?] on a yellow background with an
Others entry in the
Device Manager you should get details about the device and fix the problem, usually by updating the driver.
Your Motherboard seems to have
VISTA drivers both 32-bit and 64-bit. But you have not mentioned the details of
Windows 7 beta dvd you are using to install in this system; neither its
Build nor its Bits [x32 or x64? ] are mentioned in your posts so far. Your MoBo is capable of using either 32 Bits or 64 Bits and the driver selection must be based on what OS you are installing.
If you can post your findings on the
Device Manager, and the Win7 disc details, someone may be able to help you troubleshoot that. Even if the system has Windows VISTA drivers , Windows 7 Beta need not accept them and there are no other troubleshoots if compatibility mode fails for this beta OS.
Good luck.
