I upgraded from Vista to windows 7 and all was fine. Two days ago, the pc stated to freeze on the page where you type in your password. Access to windows can still be achieved in safe mode although not in safe mode with network. I have tried system restore etc to no avail. My anti-virus will not run in safe mode so I cannot check if this is a virus. advice really appreciated:(

Hey, and welcome to the windows 7 Forums :)
Your keyboard and mouse freeze up? Or does the entire computer freeze?
This may be caused by the fact that you performed an upgrade rather than a clean install

The pointer/curser stops flashing, so I guess its a computer lock up. Its difficult to be specific as without either the mouse or keyboard I cant do anything.
It has been working for over a month. Really annoying

OK. is this a laptop or desktop?
Could you check the event logs from safe mode for us?
Open the start menu and type "event" click on "view event logs"
Once there, expand "Custom Views" on the left side and select "Admin events" :)
