Windows 7 Laptop crashs when I close the lid [Sleep] Kernal-power error 41

Nutrient

New Member
When I close the lid it doesn't shut off, keycommands are ignored and the screen remains black leading my to hit power switch

I've had the issue since 06/2012

Since then it stopped and continued from 09/2012

I've checked that my GPU and Intergrated card are up to date

I understand that this is a power issue but idk how to resolve, instructions on the provide my information on this matter would be highly appreciate

I would really like to get this done and over with asap

There could be a scratch on the circuit board, there could be a small bit that wasn't soldered on properly, there could be a driver issue that's preventing the power supply from operating properly or the driver could be hogging too much, etc etc etc.

Too many possibilites, "Kernel-Power 41 (63)" isn't conclusive as it is a sub branch of many power failure related problems.

The kernel power event ID 41 error occurs when the computer is shut down, or it restarts unexpectedly. When a computer that is running Windows starts, a check is performed to determine whether the computer was shut down cleanly. If the computer was not shut down cleanly, a Kernel Power Event 41 message is generated.

An event 41 is used to report that something unexpected happened that prevented Windows from shutting down correctly. There may be insufficient information to explicitly define what happened. To determine what may have happened and to identify a potential resolution, it is important to know what the computer was doing at the time just before the event occurred.

If event 41 is logged because power to the computer was interrupted, consider obtaining an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) such as a battery backup power supply. An underpowered or failing power supply may cause this behavior. For example, if you added RAM or additional devices or hard disks when this problem began, the power supply may cause the problem.

Do you actually see a BSoD, or do you just restart it without seeing for any crash reports?
Also, try updating your BIOS, all your drivers (I'll get to this point later) and try to close the computer in safe mode (F8 before the Windows Logo on startup).

For a list of drivers you can use the software from this link "http://windows7forums.com/blue-screen-death-bsod/38837-how-ask-help-bsod-problem.html" and just get the driverslist and minidump (or just click grab all, and we can do a full analysis). Then attach the .zip file on your reply and we'll get all the driver info.

I got BSOD 1 time [to my knowledge] while active on my computer, I was just on the desktop and I just open Chrome and it occured, this only happened 1 time this past week so far and it happened so quick that I couldn't recognize the issue, Hasn't happened again since

The main Issue I'm having is when the computer goes into sleep or Hibernate it just crashs and I have to reboot, sometimes when my computer left on and I return it'll display "Your computer recovered from an unexpected shutdown" with no solution ofc

I've noticed when I take out the Battery the computer goes into sleep fine, I've not tested this fully so I'll get back to you on that

Could you be more specfic about Intel wireless WiFi link 5000 Series Adapter?

Also what is the in
I checked the website and couldn't find it,

I've uninstalled the ArcSoft software as instructed

Driver_Power_State_Failure errors that have the first argument of 3 (most are) need examining with the debugger as there's additional information in the fault bucket entry that can usually help in figuring them out.

The Kernel Power Error 41 is simply Windows' way of saying "WTF?" Windows doesn't know why the system crashed, so it just made a note of it in the Event Viewer. Most frequently this is either an overheating error, or another hardware error that can't be detected by Windows.

The line between hardware and software is blurred. Back in XP days it was relatively easy to figure out - but with the advent of smarter OS's (such as Vista/7/8) that distinction isn't very easy to make now.

So, for starters, let's look at this driver: Netwsw00.sys
It's the one blamed in the Driver_Power_State_Failure errors (which do have the first argument of 3)
It belongs to your Intel wireless WiFi adapter.

Please:
- download a fresh copy of this driver from Intel Download Center
- uninstall the current driver from your system (using Control Panel...Programs...Uninstall a program)
- install the freshly downloaded driver
- monitor for further BSOD's

We'll be looking for 2 things after this:
- further Driver_Power_State_Failure errors (which could point to a hardware problem)
- further Kernel Power Error 41's (which could indicate that there is another problem with the system that needs fixing).
