Windows 7 Microphone jack not working

For some reason, my [COLOR=#0072BC ! important][COLOR=#0072BC ! important]microphone[/COLOR][/COLOR] jack started not working. It says its not plugged in.... anyone know how I can change this?

Install the driver from your motherboard or laptop manufacturer instead of Realtek's site.

How do I find out what my motherboard is?

intel core i3 is my processor, not my motherboard.. right? or are they the same?
