Windows 8 Multiple user issue. Please help.

Ok, so long story short, I had a problem with my PC. The Windows Mail app wasn't opening at all. I contacted MS support to attempt to find a solution.

Eventually, a support specialist was given access to my computer, by me, because he couldn't solve the issue over a chat box. After giving him access, he was forced to create another user account to find out if it was my User causing the problem, or my OS. It was indeed, my OS. I can't exactly remmeber what he did, but I think he did the following;
He created a new user, and signed into it. He then deleted my old user, then managed to keep all of my main files. He did this by using the "Refresh" option. Some files which I didn't need were removed. Some games config files, deleted which didn't make much difference.

So now I have multiple users and I have no idea what is going on. I know which User is my main User, but when I try to delete the other users, it tells me it's in use by another program. Again, I have no idea how.

I just want to remove these extra User from my computer. Bearing in mind that When I logon, there is only one user to select from, and not multiple. I have no idea how it ended up like this.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I attached some screenshots for a better Idea of the situation.

You may find you can delete the other users by booting into safe mode.

It turns out, the last user folder in the image is being used. Not sure if I really want to do that.

Is there any way of finding out which programs are writing to which folder, or is there any way to change which folder each program should be writing to?

You may find that sort of things creates more problems than it solves. How about just making copies of all the user folders on a backup device in case they mey be needed and then removing the users.

I think it would be easier to just created a restore point and then delete the users because i doubt copy and pasting the user folders would even work.

Not sure my problem is exactly the same as the one described above, but I have a problem with user accounts automatically being created when I start my computer.

This started after I upgraded from XP to Windows 7 about a year ago and, as of two weeks ago, there 60 additional user accounts, the first of which was called TEMP, the second TEMP.{mycomputername}, then TEMP.{mycomputername}.xxx where xxx is a sequence number starting from 000 (see attached). However these accounts are not created every time I start the computer.

These accounts do not show up in the Control Panel User Accounts and it is impossible to delete them as Windows says that, as Administrator, I do no have sufficient privileges (see attached) - the only way I can delete these is to boot into Safe Mode and delete them from there.

I thought I had a virus or malware problem, but Norton Internet Security did not detect any nor did any of the online or offline virus / malware scanners I have used. Norton Technical Support confirmed that the PC was clean, but found that there were two lines in the Registry one with a line item with ProfileImagePath c:\Users\UpdateusUser and the other c:\Users\TEMP (see attached). These were deleted and the problem appeared to be resolved.

Last week my computer automatically updated to Windows 10. Everything still appeared to be okay until I had a number of Windows 10 updates that required a Restart and the problem reappeared. One and/or the second Registry entries were added after each restart with additional user accounts created after each update. I cleaned the Registry and user accounts each time they reappeared, but after each update they were recreated. I spoke to Norton Technical Support again and they agreed that there is probably something corrupted in the OS relating User Account management.

Sorry for the long description, not simple to describe the problem, but does anybody now what is causing these accounts to be created and how I can stop this?
