We need a team here, though. I have a feeling FutureUS is gonna be killing Maximum PC soon. They already killed it's website off and folded it into PC Gamer's website.

Ask Mike if it's ok to start one. If so I'll join. I would prefer to use boinc as the client if possible but if not f@h will do. Shame you can't schedule it working though. Would prefer it to not do anything during the day and only process workloads overnight

I just started a conversation with Mike about it.

Tell him I'm interested could be good for the forum

I used to run Seti back in the day but nowadays I'm not so sure I want my pc being stress tested everytime the screensaver starts up..
Kudo's to those that do but for the moment I'll decline.

I'm running the FAH client, but it's just running all the time in the background. I don't use a screensaver, so I'm unsure if I have Seti or not.

I think you could have Seti running in the back ground too. As I said I always used the screensaver to run it but maybe things have changed?

Last time I used it was maybe 2003/4?

I haven't folded since around that time as well and it was for MaximumPC and AMDMB (now PCper). MaximumPC is no more they were shut down recently and incorporated into PCGamer. All of the really good people left MaxPC from that original staff a ways back including Gordon Mah Ung who reunited with Jon Philips the original editor of MaximumPC they are now @ PCWorld (since around 2014).

Meet Gordon Mah Ung, PCWorld's new hardware guru

Well mystery solved then

Apparently you can view the screensaver if you want to. You have to right-click on the FAH client and click on Protein Viewer. Either way it's always running, except for if you go to the web settings and click on stop folding.
Mike is in the process of moving. When he's done, he said he'd look into it.
Maximum PC does still exist. I get the digital version of it from Zinio. The Holiday 2016 issue was released last Thursday or Friday.
They're website was just killed off and put in PC Gamer's hardware section.
Yes, a lot of the staff has left in the last few years.
Jon & Gordon are with PC World now.
Nathan moved to Texas. Alex moved to Hawaii. Katherine is doing arts & crafts based magazine work now.
FutureUS is probably gonna kill it off soon, just like the Official Windows Magazine series. That one, they repeatedly changed names on it.

I may have to change up my part getting next week. If Steam still has the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt GOTY for $29.99 and Doom for $19.79 or both close to that, it will be time to grab both.

Here's what Folding@home looks like now.
FAH.webp

Keith have you seen the steam sale today, witcher 3 is going for 40% off and metro franchize is 75% off.

Yeah, I knew the prices the other day. I'm broke until next Friday, though. If next Friday the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt GOTY & Doom are close to those prices, I'll be getting both and the rgb mouse will wait.

Get the mouse and wait for the xmas sale

I may luck out on something in early January, as far as after Christmas sales.
Problem is due to being on Social Security, whatever I get next week has to be on the 2nd and for January it has to be the 3rd. I can't due mid or late month sales, as my money's gone by then.
I have one ace up my sleeve for sometime in December, though. Once I have my new keyboard my old pc can be sold.
Once I have my eyeglasses out of that sale, my pc get's the rest.
I'll probably catch some sort of sale for my eyeglasses.
That's is good news, as my last pair was over $450.00 due to needing progressive bi-focals and the type of lenses that turn into sunglasses.
That last part is unavoidable from having laser surgery on my eyes from the diabetes

Quick keyboard question while I'm thinking about it. Should I go with the Cherry MX Blue, Brown or red switches on the G.Skill KM780 RGB when I order it Friday?
For gaming I'm going to use my game controller.
I just heard about a new wired Xbox One controller earlier, that I'm probably gonna get later on.
It's called the PowerA Fusion. Here's a link to a article Windows Central did on it yesterday. PowerA Fusion Controller Review: An 'Elite' Xbox One controller with a low price
