Windows 10 New Nvidia Driver 353.54

This new driver just showed up on Windows Update... I will be check it on both my machines.

Edit: Got a Blue Screen during the download of new updates. I suppose the new driver will be better.. really tired of these Blue Screens...

Information on these drivers is as of yet a little scant although it is felt this this will be the driver released with the RTM. You'll notice that The Nvidia Geforce experience (something I didn't use anyway) has changed to 'Nvidia Update':

Also checking Services.msc one cannot find the Nvidia Shield streaming either. Turning this off meant better performance and the only thing one finds now is Nvidia Display Driver service. I'll try and find out more.

I uninstalled the Nvidia Update part of the driver and seemingly no ill effects.

The attachment is what I showed after setting the system to surround. There was no display at all on the outside monitors and you can see how the center one looked. I had to hard reset the system to get my display back.

The text also appears a little fuzzy. So new driver not looking so good so far..

Hmm.... Not looking good Clark. I'm trying to find out if they are an actual improvement and also if I replace them with the driver I do want is Windows Update gonna simply install it again even though I've set it not to? Might try it anyway and see..

After I rebooted the system, it came back up with the display configuration I had requested. I will run it like this to see if it continues the Blue Screens. But I will stay away from trying to reconfigure for a while..

That's the driver that I'm running.
I'm not having any problems with it.

I think that I've been running this driver for a few of weeks since 7/13.
Got it through Geforce Experience, which is still what I'm seeing on my computer.

I see that if you look at their website, Nvidia is showing the latest Windows 10 driver as 353.30.

353.54 is released through windows update only. You sure your not mixing it up with another release as it was only put out yesterday?
I'm going back to 8.1. I've unfortunately screwed around so much with installing then uninstalling this driver the registry is now borked. No real way to fix it either.. Oh happy days.

I think there were some Hotfix drivers which may have had the same number, but I never used one of those. The system has just Blue Screened again so this driver does not help that situation.

Will do Clark, I just installed 8.1.1 again so gimme a few although service exception-dxgkrnl.sys is as you probably know graphics related. Could be that something is tripping the driver to bsod but without looking it's hard to say for sure. As soon as I have the debugger installed I'll take a look.

ok I took a look and as you say they are all bugcheck 3B's which usually means a system service/driver is corrupt. Checking your Stack Text however (a blow by blow account of the last sub routines) you can see that it had something to do with Miracast. Do you have a Miracast monitor?

It might be that Miracast isn't Win 10 ready? In any case try turning it off and see if it improves things.

I don't have a Miracast monitor, but I do have 3 monitors and one uses HDMI. I tried checking the dump file on my Windows 7 install and it mentioned Miracast.

Nvidia at one time was installing a Miracast audio but I think the newer drivers stopped installing that. I notice there is a Miracast .UI in the Windows\SystemResources folder. I could not find anything regarding Miracast I had any control over. I checked the "Connect" button on the Notifications popup but no wireless display devices were shown.

So as it stands, I don't know of anything to try to work around the situation. I posted the dump files, or tried to, on the Microsoft Insiders forum to see if it would make it easier for some actual Microsoft folks to get access. But someone said my OneDrive link did not work .. I tried the link and it worked... so who knows..

For what it's worth I have my HD TV linked to my computer via HDMI cable.
I've found that it's working better then the last time I did this a year or so ago.

I've watched several movies from Amazon Prime, and the quality and sound were perfect.
Instantaneous with no buffering.

I switch the sound in the Sound Panel to HDMI and everything goes through the TV to my stereo.
I do notice that the image on the TV is slightly bigger then on my monitor, slightly cropping the picture.

Never tried using Miracast, my TV has wireless connection built in, but it's much slower than the HDMI connection.

I have a question...
Anyone know if leaving it set to, "Duplicate These Displays" all the time puts any additional load on my video card when I don't have the TV set to HDMI 2, the one that's for my computer? This way I can switch to the computer from the TV at any time.

For that matter is it working harder to show it on both displays at the same time?

I've played computer games on the TV and haven't really noticed any slowdown in frame rates when showing in on both at the same time, but it seems like it would put more stress on the video card.

I don't know the technical answer to that, but I would say that the card is still working at the same rate, with or without the duplicate display. The difference could be a loss of quality, though. I am thinking in terms of splitting the output from parabol and HD aerials, both of which I have. I certainly lose signal strength there.
But, alternative thinking, I am sure if what you suggest is the case, the card has ample margin for being overloaded, hence the ability to supply?
By the way. I was interested in your comment regarding Amazon prime. I have low quality TV packages in this country and am always on the look out for alternatives, preferably free. I use Filmon which gives me free access to most of the UK TV channels.

Free 2 day shipping on almost everything you buy, (I buy a lot, and I've gotten free shipping on things that would otherwise have cost $70 to ship so I come out ahead just on shipping cost alone), a lot of free EBooks, and access to thousands of free TV shows and Movies.

Since I got my new TV I've started taking advantage of it.
Some are quite recent like "The Hunger Games Catching Fire etc.

I don't know if you will see the same thing on this link that I do because of the Prime membership thing but for me all these movies are free, if you notice on the bottom that this is page one of 400.

They are full HD and look just like a DVD, or HD Broadcast.

If you want to try it out, I'm pretty sure you can play the trailers on the films that offer them and see how it works.

Note that the Some of the Trailers are not in HD.

I will keep an eye out. I am a little skeptical they are announcing a possible new driver, now, if they could have released it with 10240 for testing..

But my games do not have problems, it is the desktop. This driver may not have any fixes for that problem. Had another Blue Screen yesterday, same reason. I finally got Windbg to run without giving me a bunch of symbol errors...

It's funny how some people have some problems and others have different ones even when running similar equipment.
I've had no video issues at all, (until a few minutes ago LOL) but until I gave up on my Sound Blaster sound card I had endless sound issues.

I can't remember the last time I've seen a blue screen, but I think it was when my liquid cooling sprung a leak and my computer overheated.

I still have the problem with the right click links from the start button not working, (a problem that no one else seems to have) but everything else seems to be working and getting better.

This morning for the first time I've seen some screen flickering, it only lasts a second and seems to affect text boxes only, not the whole screen, which is weird in itself.

I just saw it happen in this box that I'm typing in.
I'll reboot and see if it stops.

That's the thing with PCs there are so many variations, it always bugs me when Apple geeks go on about how trouble free their OS is, after all it only has to run on computers they produce themselves.

I did get the Wireless Display to work with this system. I am sure Miracast is involved in that but I had not used it before.

I just submitted another feedback form to Nvidia and included the Stack Trace I got which looks much like Kemical's post.
