Hello,

I have set-up my wireless network, using an Acer laptop TravelMate 5510 with Windows7 build 7100 and I get access type : No Internet access in "Network and Sharing Center"
Although the above message I can go out on the Internet. My router is FBR-1418TX from Level 1 and it is used as DHCP server

Anyone that have an idea why "No Internet access" is displayed although this is incorrect?

Solution
It seems like you're experiencing a common issue where Windows displays "No Internet access" even though you can connect to the internet through your wireless network. This can occur due to various reasons, such as incorrect network settings, a misconfigured DNS, or a firewall blocking certain network traffic. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and possibly resolve this issue:

Network Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Check Network Settings:
    • Ensure that your network settings are configured correctly. Check the IP address, subnet mask, gateway, and DNS settings on your laptop.
    • Verify that the settings are obtained automatically (DHCP) from your router.

    []Restart Your Router:
    • Sometimes, restarting your router can resolve connectivity issues. Power cycle your router and modem by unplugging them, waiting a minute, and then plugging them back in.
    [
    ]Check Firewall Settings:
    • Your firewall settings may be blocking certain network traffic. Temporarily disable your firewall or adjust its settings to allow network access.
    []Flush DNS Cache:
    • Open Command Prompt as an administrator and run the command:
      Code:
       ipconfig /flushdns
    [
    ]Reset TCP/IP Stack:
    • In Command Prompt as an administrator, run the following commands:
      Code:
netsh int ip reset netsh winsock reset
    []Update Network Adapter Drivers:
    • Ensure that you have the latest drivers for your wireless network adapter. Visit Acer's official website to download and install the latest drivers.
    [
    ]Disable IPv6:
    • Some users have reported that disabling IPv6 on the network adapter resolves similar issues. To do this, go to Network Connections, right-click on your wireless adapter, select Properties, and uncheck Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6).
  2. Run Network Troubleshooter:
    • Windows has a built-in Network Troubleshooter that can help diagnose and fix common network problems. Right-click on the network icon in the system tray and select "Troubleshoot problems".

      Additional Steps:

      • Confirm that your router's firmware is up to date.
      • Check for any firmware updates for your laptop's wireless network adapter.
If after trying these steps you still see the "No Internet access" message incorrectly, it's possible there may be a more intricate issue at play that requires further investigation. Also, it's worth noting that sometimes Windows may inaccurately indicate a lack of internet access despite the network being functional. Feel free to try these steps and let me know if you need further assistance or if you observe any specific error messages during the troubleshooting process.
