Windows 7 No taskbar or mouse pointer after Win 7 install

I have attempted to install Windows Home Pro 64 bit many times with the hangs and other problems mentioned in other threads. Now I have finally succeeded but on rebooting after install there is no taskbar or mouse pointer and I can do nothing.

However, I can start in safe mode with networking and I think that conflicting drivers were installed during the final phase of the install, but I have no idea which driver should be rolled back or removed. Any help would be much appreciated.

I am using an home built computer with an ASUS P6T Deluxe motherboard and ATI 4870 video card. I have already rolled back the video driver to no avail.

Maybe you need to elaborate. Where and how did you get your software and what problems did you have with that?

How did you install and what problems happened then.

It sounds like something might have been corrupted.
