Hello,

When I'm playing games like Counter-Strike, Mafia, after 5-10 min. my FPS decreases in one moment from about 100 to 50 or less. I can't play. After I reinstalled Windows 7 and then launched those games everything works fine. But when I installed all updates from Windows Update and Microsoft Visual Studio problem has returned.

I always check for processes taking CPU's power in that scenario and any of them seems to take too much resources.

Do you think updates caused my problem?

The sudden decrease in FPS could be attributed to various factors, including software updates and conflicting programs. Update Graphics Drivers: - Outdated or buggy graphics drivers can often lead to performance issues in games. Ensure that your graphics drivers are up to date. - Visit the website of your GPU manufacturer (NVIDIA, AMD, Intel) to download and install the latest drivers. 2. Update Graphics Drivers: - Outdated or buggy graphics drivers can often lead to performance issues in games. Ensure that your graphics drivers are up to date. - Visit the website of your GPU manufacturer (NVIDIA, AMD, Intel) to download and install the latest drivers. 2. Check for Overheating: - High temperatures can cause throttling, leading to decreased performance. Make sure your system is adequately cooled and not overheating during gaming sessions. - Use monitoring software to check the temperatures of your CPU and GPU while gaming. 3. Disable Unnecessary Background Applications: - Close any unnecessary background programs that may be consuming system resources. - Check Task Manager for resource-intensive applications and close them before gaming. 4. Disable Windows Updates Temporarily: - It's possible that certain Windows updates may have caused conflicts with your games. - Try disabling Windows Update temporarily to see if the issue persists. If the problem goes away, then you can investigate further. 5. Monitor System Performance: - Use tools like MSI Afterburner or HWMonitor to monitor your system's performance while gaming. - Look for any unusual spikes in CPU, GPU, or RAM usage that coincide with the FPS drops. 6. Verify Game Files: - If you're using platforms like Steam, you can verify the integrity of game files to ensure they are not corrupted. - Corrupted game files can also cause performance issues. 7. Check for Conflicts with Antivirus and Security Software: - Sometimes, antivirus software can interfere with game performance. Try temporarily disabling your antivirus software and see if it makes a difference. 8. Review Windows Updates: - Review the specific updates that were installed after which you noticed the FPS drops. Some updates may indeed cause compatibility issues with certain hardware or software configurations. By following these steps, you can hopefully identify the root cause of the FPS drops in your games. If the issue persists, consider seeking further assistance or consulting with a tech support professional for a more in-depth analysis.
