Hi I have a Dell 730 XPS and it is a dual boot system. I have a QX9650 extreme chip 8 gigs of corsair dominator ram, 2-GTX 280 video cards, sli off, Nvidia 790sli mobo. I have a dual boot setup 2 500 gig hard drives, one with vista 32 and the other with Win 7 64. As long as your on and doing stuff, most of the time all is fine. Walk away for as little as 10 minutes, FREEZE. No mouse, key board. Desktop is frozen. I have updated all drivers, virus scans, the works. Only critical in event log is the kernel one for pushing retsart button. Attached is a sample of event log, its the same up and down, nothing new. Any help would be appreciated.

Solution
Well, it's hard to say from the information you've posted, but I would first try uninstalling Real Player and see if that gets rid of the MCSTRM.sys file in the system32 drivers folder and the second thing would be to take a look on google for the "The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device Root\SIDESHOW\0000." it seems to be related to a logitech keyboard and some incompatibilities with windows 7

Solution
I've been having this same problem on my Sony VGN-NS305D laptop.

I bought it with Vista Business installed. It worked fine for 2 months. I don't know what happened, perhaps Spybot installed? I don't know. I use a Logitech usb mouse and calculator. It doesn't matter if they're plugged in or not. I've set all the display and power options to never. No screen saver. Oh, and I've installed Win7 pro as the upgrade that came with my purchase and I still have the problem. The only way I've gotten the computer not to freeze after about 30-40 minutes is to run it in SAFE MODE. This tells me it's perhaps a non-windows driver issue. I thought this might help considering some people think it's the OS (XP, Vista, Win7).

Thanks for sharing this information, using safe mode or safe mode with networking will often help in determining that the problem may very well be some type of third party application or service and if that's the case, using this article How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7 will often help to further identify the actual culprit. Thanks again.
