run sfc /scannow (observe space) from an elevated cmd prompt

driver verifier crashing would help us identify the unstable drivers if we had the correct symbols to read your minidumps, I can't help feeling this is to do with your gdr patched system and I am limited by whatever symbols Microsoft make available

run it again a couple of times to see if it fixes them this time round ?

now that you've updated your BIOS I think your best option might be to do a fresh install ;)

Agreed... All that crashing is likely to have corrupted something.. It's what I would do....

you've convinced me

Hello,
I'm gonna reformat, and give it a fresh install

Can you give me any advice about installing the marvell preinstall driver from the gigabyte driver page?

Do I do it similar to the bios update?

press f8 and upload it from a usb drive?

download the file and put it on your flash drive but you should be able to simply install it after windows is finished installing , my preferred sequence is operating system , AV , browser of choice , all drivers then stress with a game etc

keep the link to your motherboard support site for driver links :)

it crashed again

Hello,
I reformatted and installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 last night
I installed all the motherboard drivers
I installed MS Office 2007, SQL Server 2005, Visual Studio
I installed all the Windows updates

Yesterday it worked fine

Today, I started it up and BSOD first thing

I restarted in safe mode, and he's the dump

Please help,
I'm in hell

Other notes:
I bought a new Windows 7 compatible mouse and keyboard
There are no yield signs on the devices and printers control panel

I ran that command prompt thing and here are the results

Should I try that driver verifier
Driver agent says I'm missing 3 drivers, but I installed all the ones from the Gigabyte page

Ok there is no doubt there is something unusual about your systems hardware as your updates from Microsoft are the gdr package (explained here) which are specifically for security and critical stability issue fixes !

windows debugger shows

***** Kernel symbols are WRONG. Please fix symbols to do analysis.

also we cannot debug this with windows debugger if the symbols are wrong :(

recommendations for BugCheck 1000008E are to change video adapters which suggests to me that theres a problem with the way your GPU relates to the chipset ?

you could try a reinstall but this time remove your network cable so you DO NOT have connection to the Internet during the install and when into windows then go into your control panel\updates and turn off windows updates, then reconnect your Internet cable and install your chipset drivers from the manufacturers website and the gfx card drivers from Nvidia, then DO NOT install anything else and see if you crash ?

then go back into control panel\windows updates and set to "check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them" , this way you can refuse the Nvidia drivers ;)

then install things slowly as you require them and set a restore point at each install so you can rollback if the crashes start ?

check your driver and installed devices status by right clicking computer and goto properties then to device manager and any warning icons will tell you status, such as question mark means windows doesn't know what it is and exclamation mark means theres a conflict and red X means the device is disabled ?
let us know how it goes ?

I forgot to mention
I installed Windows security essentials last night
After it BSOD today, it turned off security essentials and will not let me turn security essentials on again.
I don't think that security essentials is the culprit, because It crashed with a similar code when I had AVG installed a week ago.

This is all pretty weird stuff thats happening and reading through the thread as a whole I'm starting to wonder if your RAM is at fault too. I know you said you'd checked the RAM but did you check each stick individually? If they are tested together errors can be missed..

Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

Remember only test one stick at a time so you know which one is faulty, if indeed errors are found..

I ran the memtest individually and received no errors.
I bought a a MSI R4550-MD1GH video card to replace the nVidea evga gt210 512
I kept the receipt and if it stops crashing I'll know it was the old video card.(which was new also, but I read some stuff about their drivers being bad)
If it continues to crash I'll return the MSI and keep troubleshooting.

I would like to leave this post up, until I've gone a couple of days crash free.
Thanks

I guess at least you got the RAM ticked off as a possible cause and as for keeping the thread open... crashjesse, it will stay open more or less forever or at least while the forum still ticks over.. We never close threads unless a situation has arisen which warrants closure.

Hello,
My computer has had 2 BSOD, since I installed the new video card

There is a quick splash screen that appears immediately after the first screen when you turn it on(this screen has flashed since I built it, it's not new because of the new video card), it says

"gigabyte technology corp. pci express to sataII host controller rom v1.07.16g
copyright (c) 2005-2009. gigabyte technology corp.
detecting drives; done; no drives found"

The screen flashes quickly, then

"loading operating system" appears in the upper left corner

Then Windows 7 loads.

It's running good at the moment, but I'm scared it could crash at any minute.

Do you have any advice?

I included the last 2 mini dumps

no,
I have no cisco programs installed
My only programs are
Office 2007
visual studio 2008
sql server 2005
nero 7
windows security essentials

unfortunately the symbols for your system still aren't loading so no help from windows debugger :frown:

what are the available settings on your bios to control ram voltage and timings ?

Bios has
"onchip sata type" is set to Native IDE-the options are(Native IDE, Raid, AHCI)
I bring this up because I have no IDE drives, only 2-Sata drives
system voltage is set to auto, when I change it to manual I can change the voltage to 1.65
voltage control options
system voltage control - manual
sata 3 volt control -normal
cpu pll voltage control - normal
dram voltage control - 1.650v
ddr vtt voltage control - .750 v
nb voltage control - normal - 1.120v
sb/ht voltage control -normal- 1.240v
nb/pci3/pll voltage control - normal - 1.80 v
cpu nb vid control - normal
cpu voltage control - normal
normal cpu vcore - 1.3250v

Last night I reinstalled Windows and all my software because I was having problems loading a visual studio project
Everything worked great last night
When I turned the computer on this morning it bsod again,
There is a clicking noise coming from the computer when it starts up(like it's trying to find something on the HD-it only happens on the first boot, the morning after a clean install)
It throws up an error box saying "there was a problem starting c:programfiles\nos...I missed the rest)
My current memory is not on the recommended list for my MoBo
And Firefox keeps crashing
------------------
maybe it is the memory? all the bsod have involved memory
-memory management
-bad pool header
-bad pool ...

At the moment it started up fine, but I bet I can get it to crash if I start using it.
