Windows 7 Windows 7 BSOD on start up.

I recently re-installed Windows 7 after a crash resulted in BSOD and a crash after the Windows 7 Logo would appear, when the desktop should have loaded. After re-installing, I have had the exact same issue with BSOD at the exact same time after the Windows Logo. The only way I can use my computer is to install Windows, not update, or install any drivers, and that is how I am posting this now. My specifiations are: i7 950 @ 3.07 GHz 2.79 GHz, 6.00 GB of RAM, EVGA GTX580, an Intel DX58s02 MOBO, and a 2 TB Seagate HDD. My only question is, what can I do?

OK. let's work this one a bit differently (working around not being able to install updates.

First, please run these free diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics (start with the video tests)

Then, more things to check for this sort of error: Video TDR Timeout - 0x116 + 0x117

Post back with the results of this and we'll move on from there.

The stuff below here is just for record keeping purposes - don't try fixing any of it!!!

I'm concerned about the 2 different network drivers - but will have to look into that later.
systeminfo.txt shows 2 different network cards:

I wasn't able to successfully complete any of the video tests, and I've been trying the suggestions from the Video TDR link you provided to no avail so far. Furmark gives me this error: FurMark requires an OpenGL 2.0 compliant graphics controller. Startup failed. NVIDIA Geforce 6 and higher (with latest Forceware drivers) or ATI Radeon X1000 and higher (with the latest Catalyst drivers) are good choice!

Should I go on with the other diagnostics? Thank you for taking the time to help me with this!

If you're not able to run the tests on a recent make video card (such as your EVGA GTX580), then we've got to wonder about the card itself. DO NOT purchase a new card at this point unless you can return it for your money back.

Interestingly, dxdiag shows that you have 2009 video drivers, while the memory dumps show 2012 drivers.
This can (IME) be either a problem with the video card or with the motherboard.

While the video card is strongly suspect, we're not certain it's to blame.
Some options are:
- return the card with an RMA if it's still under warranty
- borrow another card to test with and see if the same problems exist
- purchase a new card from a store that allows returns and try that card.

Test with another card. If it seems to work better, generate a new set of reports for us to use to compare with the original reports.

Good luck!

I figured it may come down to this. In which case I will probably not be able to report for a while since I'll need to wait before I can get my hands on another card to test with. Thankfully I can get by, and take care of most things the way my computer is now, but I will need to have this sorted out eventually. Thanks again for all the help, I will report back when there is a new developement.

We'll be here when you come back. I get email notifications when you reply to this topic.
Good luck!

I replaced my 580 with a 660, another EVGA, and the problem disappeared. I've updated, and installed some things, but I wanted to check in here first and see if there are any further tests you might want to see. Otherwise, I'm very grateful to have received such guidance, its nice to know there are people who want to help!

No more tests - swapping the card is the most reliable test.
In the unlikely event that the errors come back, just reply to this topic and we'll be here.

Good luck!
