Hi all,

I'm having problems with windows 7 and am not very comuter literate, so hope you can help me in simple terms!

In fact, my computer has been working fine, connecting to the internet fine etc. Yesterday, windows 7 did some auto-updates, and now despite an active internet connection, neither explorer or firefox will go online, claiming a problem with the proxy server (i don't know what this is....?)

I'm sure there is just some setting that needs to be changed, but any help you can give me to sort this out would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Solution
For IE8, try this
Click start orb
type internet options into the search box and hit the enter key
select the "connections" tab near the top
click the "LAN settings" button near the bottom
Uncheck everything that has a check in it
OK your way back out of there and see if that makes a difference.

Hi! Can you connect to the Internet after you disable your Anti-Virus Firewalls ? Have you done any scans for a virus ? You may want to talk to your IP about the problem.

Solution
There is a proxy server setting in each browser - to check Firefox goto tools, options, advanced, network tab, connection settings, make sure that the "no proxy" option is checked.
