Whenever I start up my laptop I get to where I put my password in, Windows loads up but then freezes. The taskbar does not show and I am unable to get the taskbar up by pressing the windows button next to alt. The only thing that loads up is my documents folder?. In order to get the taskbar up I have to press ctrl, alt, delete and choose task manager and then choose new task and type in explorer. The taskbar then loads up. While this is a fix I want to know what is causing this. I have done a virus scan but there is nothing in that. Please help.

Hello, welcome to Windows 7 Forums :)

How long has this problem been occurring? Did you just recently upgrade to Windows 7?
If you "upgraded" (as opposed to a clean install) from Vista, that's probably the cause of your problem right there. You should backup all your files, reinstall Windows.
Try opening Command Prompt and typing "sfc /scannow" which will check for system integrity violations.
