This problem is really annoying me.
Everytime I open a folder with videos in it I get "Windows Video Clip Support has stopped responding" when generating the thumbnails for many of the files.

I had nero and the k-lite codec pack installed. I removed both and rebooted.
I searched my entire machine including hidden files for anything containing "Ahead" in the name and found nothing.

But I'm still getting the "Windows Video Clip Support has stopped responding"

From what I can tell the problem is limited to MPEG clips so far.

I'd appreciate any help.

Thanks,

Kenny

After weeks of trying I accidently found the answer. It was my Axis security client.
It's used to access some security cameras. I noticed that the poblem went away while the app was being updated.

Thanks,

Kenny

It seems like you found the solution to the issue you were facing with the "Windows Video Clip Support has stopped responding" error related to generating thumbnails for MPEG video files. It turned out that the Axis security client, used to access security cameras, was causing the problem.
By noticing that the problem went away while the Axis security client was being updated, you were able to identify the source of the issue. It's great to hear that the problem is resolved now.
