Hello Windows Forum,
Windows 8.1 has once again threw the same issue to me for a third time. Most App tiles apppear with an X in the bottom right and fail to launch. I Have tried every researched answer and after boot it's all over again.
Things I've tried:

I have been using the calendar app to store some of my upcoming events, some of which I don't remember since I threw away/deleted the original piece of information stating when the event is. Absolutely randomly, I was unable to access the calendar app. The icon on my start menu (I use Classic...

Using DISM to "Cleanup-Image" "CheckHealth" and then "RestoreHealth" I am at a loss on how to direct DISM to the "Source" CustomRefresh.WIM on my second computer which is on my LAN. I made sure that Windows Update is available through my firewall but DISM is unable to repair the image this way...
I used the disc with a generic key to install and my 8 key to activate. All went well but the cleanup system files will not close. It removes bits at a time but the fan is humming and it does not say successful or close. It does chip away so there are a few mbs left.
I was hoping to close so I...
The other day a friend and I decided to have a game of L4D2 although for some strange reason the game would start but then crash.
Whilst searching for a fix, a solution was found which involved using the System file scanner to repair system files.
The trouble is that with recent builds the SFC...

I try to update Windows 8 and I cannot. I have stuck with 19 updates on my list. Windows seem installs the updates but when I reboot the Windows 8 states that cannot configure the new updates (around 35% in the process) and reverts the changes. It doesn't provide an error code.
So far I have...

Hey, everyone.
My first BSOD occurred about 10 days ago, randomly and frequently. I'd done SFC /scannow and 'Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth', nothing wrong. Then several rounds driver verifier, uninstalled some programs with drivers that triggered BSOD, drivers indicated by...
Hi
I am using Windows 8.1 Update and Windows ADK.
Without using the ImageX command, how do I change the volume image flags values displayed with the Dism /Get-ImageInfo /ImageFile:"<WIM_File_Path>\<WIM_Name.wim" /Index:<Image_Index> command?
Where are these values stored?
Thanks
Bye

Laptop #2..... 64-bit. Win 7 dual boot with Win 10 TP
There is something inherently wrong with the Win 10 TP iso non-Enterprise copies. Both 32-bit and 64-bit copies.
In both copies ( 32 and 64 bit ), sfc found corrupt files but unable...
Within the span of one week, I have installed Dual Boot on my 2 laptops.
Win 7 and Win 10 TP 64-bit
Win 8.1 Pro and Win 10 TP 32-bit
In BOTH cases, after install and before I started to install programs, I made a restore point, and then did a sfc.
Both cases, sfc reported corrupt files but...

At first, some simplified introduction.
I have two laptops, one with Windows 7 and another with Windows 8.1 connected via Ethernet. I gave the first one IP 192.168.10.1 and 192.168.10.2 to the second one. This connection is shown as Unidentified network on both of them.

I had read a few threads about ........
1. Error 87
2.That it is not applicable to Win 7.
Since I have 3 machines with different versions of OS, I decided to check it out.
On each machine, I ran sfc /scannow, then after that, dism.
I found a thing or 2 perplexing.....
On my Dell laptop...
I get the error 3017 when trying to execute Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth in cmd. I need to fix this error in order to execute sfc /scannow(now its stuck at 100% verification). Please help!
I've had 4 different bsod's today whil doing a full scan with Bitdefender Internet Security 2014. I've run sfc /scannow and dism.exe clean-image commands as suggested by a search on the web. Here are the 4 dump files.
For some reason, I cannot open my library folders (music, video, documents, pictures). I don't know how it occurred, but I think it may be due to the last round of updates that were downloaded from Microsoft.
When I click on the folders, nothing happens. I get no errors either. This is what...
I have two Windows 8 systems, which only run basically to get updates. But neither one has exhibited any problems.
On the 18th, I did a system file check on one system to test something. The result I got was rather unexpected. It took the SFC around 15 minutes to get to the "Verification...
