Hi,
This is my first post hoping to find a solution from some Windows guru.
My question affects all versions of Windows, which presumably support GPT partitions.
I have a USB stick that I partitioned using GPT scheme. I have about 4 or 5 partitions, one of them is an ESP so that I can boot...

I am using CreateFile to open a snapshot volume, and ReadFile to read from it. On one system I had an attempt to read 1 mb fail with a CRC error. As I understand it, the drive should be doing its own bad sector mapping, but apparently it's not. I know that NTFS has bad sector handling, does...

On one of my (older) computers there is a defect sector on the hard disk.
Checking the surface of the hard disk shows a red square for it.
It seems to me that all the "usual" reserve sectors are already in use.
Every thing else works on this computer. No unusual noise comes from the hard disk...

I have an xp machine with a new install on a 1T drive.
Now I think I should have had a system partition so's I have the option of reformatting and installing another OS on there - without destroying all my data.

Situation: Secondary HDD contains previous installation's Windows folder which my current Win10 account cannot delete even as admin.
Solution: I'm assuming that I'd need to first take ownership then change the permissions to give full control.
However this is an old hard drive, and since my...

My question is, this will probably break something, so what steps should I take to fix things up after I delete and move stuff around like that?
Overview
Symlinks, or symbolic links, are “virtual” files or folders which reference a physical file or folder located elsewhere, and are an important feature built in to many operating systems, including Linux and Windows.

Hello
I'd like to save an image of Windows 8 onto a second partition using Clonezilla, and have a couple of questions before proceeding:
1. Why does W8 create two partitions (350MB and 147.3GB) instead of just one?
2. When running fdisk in Linux, why does it display so many /dev/ramX...

Using OneNote version 14.0.7166.5000 (32-bit). I've always been a bit confused about OneNote's file system and how to change it. I keep all my notes in the unfiled notes section--I have only about 28 notes, and they're all listed on the right side when I open OneNote. That's convenient enough...
