I've watched, waited and read literally hundreds and more likely thousands of posts, both here and elsewhere across the the internet, regarding opinions both pro and con as a result of folks dipping their virtual toes into the arguably troubled waters that is the Windows 8 Metro UI.

Place your mouse cursor anywhere in the Ribbon and then use the Scroll Wheel. It will scroll from File to Home to Share to View.
This way, you won't have to click on the Tab you want.
Came across this by accident.
Also works in the Windows Live Mail Ribbon, eh, probably works on any & all...
I have been playing with some of the apps, while they are still working, and noticed some things that may or may not been discussed.
OK, you can open an app and it will go full screen. So it is obviously open. You can go to the desktop, or another app and the previous app will remain open...

I ran the DP from mid-September 2011. Messed w/ it sporadically. Since 29/2/12 have been solidly w/ Windows8. To little time to learn it, personalise it. I'm running dual-boot w/ Windows7, both x64. The Start is of little concern... I boot to the Desktop... have customized start but visit it...
I have two e-mail accounts that I use with Outlook 2010. When Outlook opens, both appear in the Navigation Pane but the the Inbox for one is not expanded, and there is no receiving communication with it until I click on the Inbox and expand it. How do I correct that?
Y'all are making far too big a deal over the Start screen. I used the DP for months; now the Beta non-stop since 29/2. Hardly ever visit Start. The lack of the old Start Menu & Windows orb is completely meaningless. The OS works just fine, as is. Between the following, there is noise & a...
I meant to mention this earlier. The menu one gets by Rt Clk @ the bottom-left... not only can you get that when @ Desktop but, also, when @ Start or any other screen, even an App screen.
Whilst @ Desktop, Start is @ bottom-left & Apps @ top-left
But, @ Start, Desktop is @ bottom-left, Apps @...
This is scary ( & tongue in cheek )… I've been discovering how to navigate & find things in W8 and learning I can make my way around in Windows 8 quite nicely & do this much better in the Beta than, in the DP and OMG, imagine... in spite of being w/out a Start Menu... who'd a thunk it, eh? LOL.
I can't seem to get in the Windows 8 section of the Forum but, what the heck, may as well put this somewhere... Must say that the Ribbon & File functionality & offerings in the Windows 8 Explorer Windows is an absolute joy. Things are so clear, in-your-face, easy to understand &...
I was wondering if anyone could help me fix an issue I am having. I save multiple pdf files (as many as 20 in one sitting) to the same file location deep into my server directory. When I first got my Windows 7 Enterprise, if I "save as", choose a directory on the server, save it, then choose...
Audio recording of the conversation between Capt. Francesco Schettino and Port Authority officials after the doomed Italian luxury cruise liner Costa Concordia struck rocks on January 13, 2012 was released on the morning of January 17, 2012 and reported by ABC News. At least six people were...
Hi All,
In the explorer window, in the left (navigation) pane, I move the list of folders up to see what I need and when I expand a folder it moves everything down and opens with the folder at the bottom of the window So I can't see what is in it. I have to move the folders up again, expand the...
Greetings, unfortunately I downloaded a virus, and when I discovered it I think I cleaned it up using "WiseFixer", but now I can no longer see a link to my desktop in Windows Explorer under "Favorites." I must drill down into the system to find the desktop. I have tried dragging the desktop back...
