I "successfully" applied SP1 to my W7 system.
Two issues: 1) the hibernate/sleep function is gone. This is a desk top. At the end of the hour, the system shuts down. No USB/mouse wakeup. Pressing power-on does a reboot. The W7 power options seem to be set correctly (unless I am missing...
sleep mode works fine on my PC but what I want is more control over when sleep mode operates. If I could configure sleep mode to only operate when a certain program isn't running-- in other words sleep mode turns off when a certain program runs...
Has anyone any ideas?
Hey guys,
Recently, I have not been able to get my computer to sleep. I used to press a button on the keyboard and it would go to sleep, this worked until a couple of days ago. When I press the button now, the monitors go black and then take me to the login screen.
I have already done a...
I have an HP HDX18 Notebook PC with 2.66GHz Intel Core2 Duo, 6GB RAM, (2) 500GB Hard Drives, Vista Ultimate 64-bit - SP2.
I'm really tired of all the glitches and issues occuring in the Vista OS, so I recently purchased the Windows 7 Upgrade software. I know this isn't a Vista support forum...

I have a Toshiba L455 (Windows 7 x64) and everytime I put it to sleep manually, it seems as if only the monitor goes to sleep. All the status lights (wifi, HDD activity) remain on, but my laptop won't come back to sleep despite all attempts. The only way to shut it down or get any feedback from...
I've seen some very similar threads, but I did not find one that seemed to be the exact issue... or at least one with an answer.
If this is a repeat, I'm sorry. Please direct me to the forum with the answer!

I have a sleep and power button on my PC but Windows 7 doesn't let me change what the sleep button does. It isn't even an option - it doesn't think I have a sleep button. When I press it the PC restars, but not properly. The safe mode screen comes up. This is what the options look like...
Because of an issue with an external drive, i have to not allow the power saving feature for hard drives. Apparently my external (LaCie) doesn't support power saving and when W7 enacts the mode the drive stalls. The problem being i have a total of 6 hard drives. I'd like the others to power save...

When I first got my Dell Inspiron Windows 7, 64 bit, the power button in the start menu had all the options: shut down, hibernate, log off, switch users. A couple of weeks ago it changed and now only has Log Off and Switch Users. I cannot change it in the Properties box because it only has the 2...

Good day. The Acer monitor here on my home-built computer enters power save mode (the power light turns amber) exactly 20 minutes after I last touch the keyboard or mouse. When I am watching movies on my computer, it gets frustrating that I have to move the mouse every so often just so that I...

Hi Folks, Cybermoron posted a thread on creating a nifty shutdown button on the Win 7
desktop to make shutdown\restart easier.
I posted that I use a similar method to shutdown\restart my Ubuntu installs using a simple
python script.
He suggested I share that here in the Linux section so here...
