I have a Toshiba L455 (Windows 7 x64) and everytime I put it to sleep manually, it seems as if only the monitor goes to sleep. All the status lights (wifi, HDD activity) remain on, but my laptop won't come back to sleep despite all attempts. The only way to shut it down or get any feedback from...
I've seen some very similar threads, but I did not find one that seemed to be the exact issue... or at least one with an answer.
If this is a repeat, I'm sorry. Please direct me to the forum with the answer!
So when my computer goes into hibernation (I believe only then), and I try to wake...
I have a sleep and power button on my PC but Windows 7 doesn't let me change what the sleep button does. It isn't even an option - it doesn't think I have a sleep button. When I press it the PC restars, but not properly. The safe mode screen comes up. This is what the options look like...
Because of an issue with an external drive, i have to not allow the power saving feature for hard drives. Apparently my external (LaCie) doesn't support power saving and when W7 enacts the mode the drive stalls. The problem being i have a total of 6 hard drives. I'd like the others to power save...

When I first got my Dell Inspiron Windows 7, 64 bit, the power button in the start menu had all the options: shut down, hibernate, log off, switch users. A couple of weeks ago it changed and now only has Log Off and Switch Users. I cannot change it in the Properties box because it only has the 2...

A couple days ago, my computer hung after going into an idle induced sleep. It would not wake up. I had to power off. This problem continues.
Another symptom is it will not shutdown or hybernate. It starts back up again. Things I've already done:

Good day. The Acer monitor here on my home-built computer enters power save mode (the power light turns amber) exactly 20 minutes after I last touch the keyboard or mouse. When I am watching movies on my computer, it gets frustrating that I have to move the mouse every so often just so that I...

Hi Folks, Cybermoron posted a thread on creating a nifty shutdown button on the Win 7
desktop to make shutdown\restart easier.
I posted that I use a similar method to shutdown\restart my Ubuntu installs using a simple
python script.
He suggested I share that here in the Linux section so here...

Hi,
I've recently (about a week ago) upgraded from Windows 7 RC to Windows 7 Ultimate and during the process I upgraded my new Samsung HDD (the old HDD had defects so I had to get it replaced anyway).
After the installation of Windows 7 on the new HDD, however, I started experiencing...
I have a Windows 7 laptop wi-fi'ed to my Windows 7 desktop, both recently upgraded from Vista. The printer on the desktop is network-shared. On the desktop, under Power Options, Sleep, "allow wake timers" is enabled. Printing from the laptop under Vista could occur whether the desktop was awake...
I am using a Sony Vaio VGN-SZ650N notebook model. I upgraded the OS to Windows 7 Professional 32-bit recently and got the dreaded "fn key malfunctioning" issue, which I was able to quickly fix by reinstalling drivers from Sony's website in a certain order. Changing the display brightness with...

Hi
I am new to Windows 7, have it on Asus EEEPC
On Windows shutdown option I have Hibernation but no standby. Sleep is grayed
On Power options I can set Hibernation options but I even on lid down options I do not see standby option.
Power options resets itself to "balanced" every time I turn my laptop on. If I set it to "performance" or my own power plan this is never remembered when the laptop has been rebooted.
I am using Home Premium now but when I was using the RC I never had this problem.
