I've got Vista 64bit Ultimate currently installed on EIDE 400 gb HDD.
I bought the W7 Professional edition, because I won't use the features of W7 Ultimate.
Therefore a custom install is indicated by MSFT.
Bought a 1TB WD SATA drive
I disconnected the EIDE drive from computer and did a clean...

I'm slowly but surely starting to enjoy this learning experience.
And this forum is playing a good sized part in that.
I'm a cranky little old man who has finally given up on XP Pro.
I was never good at it-I'm still a novice-but I was able to deal with most problems on my own.
Now I have W7 Pro...
Hi guys,
Since installing Win7 Professional I haven't been able to use Instant Messenger. Everything looks fine, I can see my contacts online and they can see me but I can't message them.
I'm wondering if it is anything to do with a firewall problem although I can't see anything untoward and...

My HD has 2 partitions, one for the OS (c: drive) and a second (unused D: drive) data partition.

Ok, you have Windows 7, either the 32 or 64 bit version and looked over the new features and either burned the image to disk or set it up on a 4 gig memory stick and are ready to jump in the deep end and install Windows 7.
My advice is to do a CLEAN install on a NEW hard drive. 500 gb drive...

Hello,
I have Windows 7 curently installed on my personal computer. I uninstalled Windows XP to get it. After trying Windows 7 I like it alot except I changed my mind.
I would like to have Windows XP installed on the machine just in case I ever need it. I want to keep Windows 7 as the primary...
Does anyone have stuff showing up in W7 that is random stuff from the "other" boot drive. To try and explain, let's say you have a plug in for an audio application installed on the XP partition, but for some reason the manuals from this plug in are also in windows 7:eek: Now, not the plug in...
I have 3 hard drives on this workstation. I use Boot Magic to boot into Win98 DOS, Win Me, W2k, XP. hd0 had WinMe (1), W2k (2), XP (3). hd1 had Win98 DOS on partition 1.
I installed Win7. I wanted to install on hd0 but there were no more available Primary partitions, so I chose hd2 (sata)...

Now that I have used XP Mode enough to feel safe with it, I want to remove the dual boot from my system. My boot drive has two partitions. Drive C boots to Windows 7 and D boots to XP. If I format drive D will I still be able to boot up in Windows 7?
Thanks in advance,
Cygnus333 (Chris)
Hi, I have XP Pro 32bit installed on a 160Gb Sata disc and I wanted to install the 64bit version of Windows 7 on another disc. My question is to protect my XP install should I disconnect the disc or is it safe to leave them both connected and just run a dual boot system.
Cheers
