It occurred to me that my idea of using a backup from Windows 7 may not be useful if I cold install windows 10. From what I've read about Windows 10 so far, I see no mention of windows backup. So is a windows 7 backup useless under windows 10?
In the past MS has been very nice about letting me move my win7 drive from computer to computer as I've upgraded machines. (had to reauthorize but that's not a biggie)
Now I have win7 on my main machine balanced nicely with a lot of apps. I do not want to upgrade this.
Nor do I want to stop...

I bought a used Win 7 PC off Ebay, but it turned out not to be useful, so I need some tips or shopping guidelines on what to look for. Mostly I need this PC to play online movies/TV shows, Youtube videos, etc., without buffering, freezing, or similar nonsense. Other than this, it will mostly be...
I have a Win 10 machine with no problems. My Win7 machine recently has become extremely slow in accessing the network, clocking in at about 1KB/s. I stopped all services I thought were unnecessary, ran virus and malware detection software then switched these off. Network Sharing Center says...
Using a Windows 7 initial install followed by Windows 10 has been the only way I've found to get Adobe CS5 operating on my system without a hitch. I use the compatibility settings to run it as a Windows 7 program after, but it didn't work on a straight Windows 10 install without installing 7...
On my windows 7 pc, I just downloaded a VPN by Avast which is good to use on 5 devices. Can I put that on the Dell? It is not the anti virus program - just the VPN. Thanks.
I have an old Toshiba Qosmio F10 15" Laptop from 2004 with Intel Pentium M735 1.7ghz and 2GB ram.
As far as I know, I can install only Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 and maybe Windows 8, didn't tried.
I know that I can install Linux that is 10x better on this old machine, but I would...

I have a laptop which has windows 10 home on it.
I have a windows 7 ultimate disk which when installed on a PC gave me Windows 10 Pro.
I'm wondering if it's possible to upgrade my laptop to Windows 10 Pro from my windows 7 ultimate disk without a complete new install?
I keep getting conflicting info on whether or not this browser will run on 32-bit Win 7. One source claims it will run on any Win 7, then another site says it will only work on 64-bit Win 7. Anyone know for sure? I'd rather not clutter the registry by downloading a useless app I have to uninstall.
To save energy, I set the screen off automatically (No screensaver!) for a specified time. The screen turns off after a certain time (Or I turn off it manually) but after a different time turns on automatically - Why?

Hello,

Was wondering if Win 7 has any problem with its CA security certificates store? Is anyone getting a zillion security errors when you surf the net, using chrome/chromium browsers? Can your certificates store still be updated?
Hi!

Hi.
Windows 7 Ultimate x86
It was on my original 1TB Western Digital HDD. After several consecutive PC crashes it doesn't boot anymore. After the BIOS POST there appears a blinking underscore in the top left corner, and it stays in that state forever. (I don't want to perform a clean Windows...

During a Windows 7 Backup, I backed up a lot of unwanted folders and files. Can I remove these (manually) from the backup file or do I need to delete the backup and run it again without the unwanted folders included? (which I'd rather not do incase the backup fails for some reason)

Yes, I could change the file association via Win GUI or use some third party tools.
However I prefer to do this directly in Registry by a *.reg file (in Win 7 64bit).

I'm trying to share a folder between computers. The first computer has the file on it and I shared it with all privledges (read/write/etc..) for all users. It is a Win 7 home computer so its not a domain account.
The second computer is on the domain. I get "\\computer 1 is not accessible. You...
