A list of programs that will cripple, in one way or another, your Windows 7 system.
Adobe Photoshop CS4 Standalone (Kills Windows Update)
Daemon Tools (causes hard errors, possibly making the OS unusable)
G-Data Antivirus 2009 (Causes irreparable system crash)
MagicDisk (Can cause both hard and soft errors, conflicts with OS resources)
Please post more OS-Killers below and I will add them to the list if I can find information to support your claims.

Solution
I installed SlySoft's Virtual Clonedrive and now my windows update doesn't work.
I use Virtual Clonedrive and my update works just fine.
I'd look at re-evaluating the cause of your problem in this case, since correlation, while seemingly logical, may not imply causation.

Mayb on eof the admins could take some time to make a list of reported files....but to be honest they should only bother with RTM, not beta since thats too many extra variables.

I agree, that was the meaning of this Topic. Can somebody make a complete list of the information above?

I have noticed erratic behavior with Tunebite Platinum, a video & audio converter program. It added a number of sound devices that, as far as I could tell, were duplicates of each other. It caused my taskbar volume control to act weird. I disable the sound devices and the volume control returned to normal.

In the "do not install" category, don't install Microsoft Security Essentials and ZoneAlarm Firewall (current versions) together. I have had personal experience with freezes on the X64 version of Win7. Evidently MSE doesn't recognize the ZoneAlarm Firewall properly. There are other threads elsewhere about this problem too. If this has been posted, I apologize but it might avert a big headache for someone.

I have just run through the posts. Here ae the reported non working apps. None ar verified. Could be other factors involved (pirated software, different flavours of Windows 7 etc) There are no so many. I think, if the thread is to be succesful, it is better that posters stick to the thread title ( Do not install). most of the posts list software that worked, and several of the remainder are just observations of other posts.

Norton :
McAfee:
Zone Alarm : These three install and appear to work normally, But give problems in other areas.
Also a good idea, perhaps, to have a quick look through the thread and see if there is a previous report on the particular software you are listing. As 80% of the above is pretty much specialist tird party, I would say Windows 7 is a success story
P.S. Just added your thre, Drew. Porbaby, out of the list, the most frequently used!

Those That Work On My System
I am using Daemon Tools (SCSI Virtual drives show and function as should), complete Adobe CS4 suite, Clone DVD2, Clone CD, Zone Alarm Pro, without any issues. Windows update and Windows Explorer both function properly. System is Windows 7 Ultimate X64.

The problem with Daemon tools only applied to when used with 1.60 or older STPD driver, now it's supplied with 1.62 which is now fully compatible.

In the light of a little, but good feedback, an update:
