Whenever I try to open the connect window, either by the charm icon or wherever, the screen flashes grey and the entire charm and taskbar sort of "reloads." This wouldn't be an issue if the wifi window opened, which it doesn't. I can't view networks to connect to. Any suggestions?

Solution
The issue you are experiencing with the Connect window not opening properly and preventing you from viewing available networks to connect to can be frustrating. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve this problem:

Troubleshooting Steps for Connect Window Not Opening Properly:

  1. Run Network Troubleshooter:
    • Windows has a built-in network troubleshooter that can help identify and fix common connectivity issues. To run the troubleshooter:
      • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Internet Connections.
    []Restart Network Services:
    • Sometimes restarting network-related services can resolve connectivity issues. You can do this by:
      • Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
      • Locate services like WLAN AutoConfig, WLAN AutoConfig, and Network Location Awareness.
      • Right-click on each service, select Restart, and then check if the issue is resolved.

    ]Update Network Drivers:
    • Outdated or corrupt network drivers can cause connectivity problems. Update your network adapter drivers by:
      • Right-click on Start, select Device Manager.
      • Expand Network adapters, right-click on your network adapter, and choose Update driver.
    []Check for System Updates:
    • Ensure your system is up-to-date with the latest Windows updates. New updates often include fixes for known issues.
      • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
    [
    ]Restart Wi-Fi Service:
    • Restarting the Wi-Fi service can sometimes resolve connectivity issues. Follow these steps:
      • Press Win + X and select Windows PowerShell (Admin).
      • Type netsh int ip reset and press Enter.
  2. Check for Third-Party Antivirus Interference:
    • Sometimes third-party antivirus programs can interfere with network connectivity. Try disabling your antivirus temporarily to see if it's causing the issue. After performing these steps, check if you can now open the Connect window without the screen flashing grey and reconnect to Wi-Fi networks successfully. If the issue persists, let me know for further assistance.
