Hi all, background info, so a while ago I cloned my hdd to an ssd and, I had my documents, music, pictures and videos on a different hdd, all was good. Then my motherboard went down so I installed a new board and cpu, I had to format the ssd and reinstall windows 10. so I changed the location of those folders to the H drive but the download folder is no longer on the c drive in my user folder or on the H drive.
When downloading programs they download to the H drive for some reason.
I'm not to good at sorting this sort of thing out.
Any help would be much appreciated.

It sounds like the default download location for your browser needs to be adjusted back to the C: drive. Here's how you can do it:

For Google Chrome:

  1. Open Chrome: Go to the top right corner and click on the three vertical dots.
  2. Settings: Click on "Settings."
  3. Advanced: Scroll down to the "Downloads" section.
  4. Change Download Location: You can toggle the setting "Ask where to save each file before downloading" or click on "Change" to set a new default download location.

    For Mozilla Firefox:

  5. Open Firefox: Click on the three-line "Menu" button.
  6. Options: Click on "Options."
  7. General: Under the "Files and Applications" section, you can set the downloads...

    For Microsoft Edge:

  8. Open Edge: Select the three dots in the upper-right corner.
  9. Settings: Go to "Settings."
  10. Downloads: You can specify the new download location under the "Downloads" section.

    Windows Default Download Location:

  11. Open Windows Settings: Press Windows + I keys.
  12. Navigate to "System" > "Storage."
  13. Change Default Storage Location: You can set the default save location for apps & content here.

    Additional Tips:

    • Check the settings in each browser as sometimes downloads automatically go to default locations set by browsers.
    • Clear the download history in your browser to ensure there's no persistent setting causing this behavior.
    • Ensure the browser is up to date and scan your system for any malware.
Following these steps should help you set the default download location to the C: drive or any other desired location on your system.
