Just in the last month I have started getting frequent BSODs. I am NOT a gamer. I usually just surf internet to read news, etc. The only games I play are occasionally on FB. Today I got another BSOD while the computer was hibernating/sleeping. When I opened the top, BSOD. I am not an expert and I have read that you can analyze dump files, but I don't know if I should invest this time because I don't know if I will understand it. I know people said this is driver related, but I think this computer auto updates drivers. If not, I need help with that too, which drivers? I have an ASUS G73jw. I am attaching the dump files. Thank you!!

Here are the error codes:
On Sun 12/30/2012 9:57:24 PM GMT your computer crashed
crash dump file: C:\Windows\Minidump\123012-39312-01.dmp
This was probably caused by the following module: hal.dll (hal+0x12A3B)
Bugcheck code: 0x124 (0x4, 0xFFFFFA800632C8D8, 0x0, 0x0)
Error: WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR

crash dump file: C:\Windows\Minidump\120512-27034-01.dmp
This was probably caused by the following module: hal.dll (hal+0x12A3B)
Bugcheck code: 0x124 (0x4, 0xFFFFFA8006349038, 0x0, 0x0)
Error: WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR

If anyone can tell me if I can fix this, please let me know. Or perhaps I should call the Geek Squad?
Thanks.

ok..i'm not an expert.but trying to help you.re-install windows, make sure all drivers are up-to-date & compatible with your computer.always update drivers from official sites(never use any updater program or software).use avast antivirus(it's very good).don't use more than one antivirus in your system(it can crash your system).don't install third party softwares(always use trusted softwares).hope i help, cheers!

Before re-install try some trouble shooting. First go into power settings and disable Hibernation/sleep when lid is closed. See if you can open and close the lid.

I found BOSD to be hardware related. Which sometimes can be fixed by driver/software. Trying to find out what hardware is the problem. Since it was after wake up RAM could be an issue. But what RAM, Video RAM is shared on a lot of laptops. So that could mean The onboard video has issues.

If it was me the first thing I would do is enter setup during boot. Go to the Exit page and select system default and exit saving setting.
