This is on a six-core system, 8GB ram, win 8.1 64bit.
Yesterday everything was fine. I went to shut down at the end of the day and selected 'update and shut down.'
Then in the morning windows would not boot up.
After some digging around it looks like the update moved my entire windows folder...

I have a Toshiba Windows Vista 32 bit and would like install 4GB's of RAM but the limiting factor seems to be the memory addressing capability of the processor.
Is there any way to get around this?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,

I can install all updates in Win-7 successfully except the SP1. Whenever I try it I finally get an error message (Error #80004005). I've tried the automatic fix but that doesn't do any thing. I have also tried to format my C Drive and load a Win-7 (Pro) with SP1 using a DVD from Microsoft. After...

On the next Xbox Microsoft should call it Xbox PC and include a 1.0TB ssd's in it. They should also give the customer a choice on the cpu, ram and video card inside it.
It should run all gaming platforms on it and kill off the low-end game console.
It should be marketed as a small living room...

Hi! I'm always wanting to learn. I feel like I'm fairly knowledgeable about Windows, but I know nothing about hardware. I would like to know a little more about the basics of hardware. I have read about over clockng and it is way over my head. I understand you push your CPU and Ram to perform...
download and run ... it will open a browser page to display your system specs... a handy way to see how many ram slots a laptop has and whats in them now.

Assume I perform a certain program (in background) which acquires a lot of memory.
As an example think of a chkdsk run for an external USB hard disk which uses 6 Gb out of 8 GB physical RAM over a period of hours.
This extra ordinary memory consumption slows down the "normal" usage...
