This service cannot be started either because it is disabled or because no enabled devices are associated with it.

Installed Windows 7 clean after a botched Ubuntu install. Wiped everything but there's still 15GB of unallocated space that I think is from an old recovery partition that I cannot associate with the 240GB (Primary partition) free space. How can I get rid of this extra 15GB?
Edit: Cannot do this...
I would like to know if Windows 7 will let you merge a previously partitioned drive back to a single partition. I had to partition my C: drive to 2 new partitions so that I could match the Corps of previous projects in which I no longer need. I have deleted the drive letters and in the disk...
Whenever I try to eject a certain external hard drive using the little icon in the
task window, I get a message that it is in use. I am very careful to be sure it is not in use
but still get the message. This is a data storage disc. I am not aware of any programs on it that may be running in...

Hi,
As of now I only have 1 game installed on my fastest drive which so happens to be my OS drive (is that a good idea?) Also I would like to know what defrag to use so I can tell it to put that one installed game folder on my OS drive to the fastest part of the drive? I currently use...
I was doing a virus scan and saw there are like 20,000 files located inside the C:\$Recycle.Bin folder that were being scanned. I went to the folder to delete these files and there are no files to be found. Where is all this crap located and how do I wipe it out permanently?

Lets start by saying I currently want my other half dead. Really painfully dead.
My MereMale decided to play with the access control/Security tabs (Windows 7) within my neatly partitioned and organised drives. He says it was to stop the kids from stuffing things up, oh the irony. Anyways he...

I installed Windows 7 on a clean hard drive with only one user account and password. After installing McAfee, the Windows password was not recognized, and all I could do was reinstall Windows and I did this without assigning a password. I could not solve the problem in Safe Mode.
I see a folder...

If an external USB HD is used for just backups is it really necessary to defrag it? I mean backups of pics movies etc where you are basically adding files. I've got one that has got messed us a few times and I suspect it may be the defrag. It's a WD My Book Pro II 1T. It showed a message drive...
G'day. Trying to shrink my C drive to 40gb for Windows 7. I'm restricted to having it at about half of it's original size. This excerpt copied from sevenforums explains the reason for this.
The size of the available shrink space can be restricted by the amount of space currently allocated to...

I just replaced the hard drive in my laptop using the system image technique.
I recently did this on my desktop and was able to extend my c drive with the left over partition.
I have my extra space on drive E and want to extend it to C. Why can't I do this? How can I do this?
