Windows 7 default gateway is unavailable

Hi,
I can't connect to the internet anymore. I have a new Dell wireless laptop with a 1397 WLAN Mini-Card. My ISP is virgin media. I have a D-Link DIR 615 Router and a Webstar Modem.

I installed the router a couple of months ago and it was working fine until last week. Then the internet connection dropped and I haven't been able to restore it. I phoned my ISP helpdesk and they had me reset the router and the modem. Nothing seems to work.

I read on here about problems with Apple programs so I have unistalled Itunes, Quicktime and Bonjour.

I have tried calling my ISP 3 times so far and still no solution. They sent a new router (another DLink DIR 615) which I tried to install. I get so far through the process and then it says the default gateway is not available.

When I check the Wireless Network Connection Status it says:

Connection

IPv4 Connectivity No internet access
IPv6 Connectivity No internet access
Media State Enabled
SSID DLink

when I checked the details it gives the following:

When I run the windows network diagnostics it says the default gateway is not available. Below is the troubleshooter report. I have tried shutting everything down, rebooting the router and modem and then powering everything back up. It still doesn't work.

I have also tried putting the IP address: 192.168.0.1 in my browser but is says "address not valid".

Can anyone help get me back online?

Thanks

You have a dns issue. Open an elevated command prompt. Type the following then press enter:

ipconfig /flushdns

Reboot.

If you have mdnsresponder.exe in the task manager, this is what is causing your problem. It's the Bonjour service. We can then uninstall it. Let us know, please.

Thanks. I flushed the dns, rebooted but still can't connect.
I checked for mdnsresponder.exe in task manager but it isn't there.
I have tried resetting the router again and rebooting the laptop but that hasn't helped either :(

Hello and welcome to the forums.
I have also tried putting the IP address: 192.168.0.1 in my browser but is says "address not valid".
If you cannot interact with your router through its' browser interface then your issue may very well be with your adapter.
First check device manager, expand network adapter, select then right click the wireless card and choose properties, select the driver tab at the top and see if you have an option to roll back the driver. If that option is greyed out then I would suggest that you try attaching your laptop with a cat 5 cable to your router and see if you can establish a connection with the ethernet adapter.
Download, install, and then update both of the following programs
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware - Reviews and free Malwarebytes Anti-Malware downloads at Download.com
and
The home of Spybot-S&D!
boot into safemode and run them both and remove anything that they find.
Keep us posted as to the results and your progress.

I checked the adapter and the box was greyed out.
I downloaded both files and ran them in safe mode, neither found anything on my system.
I have tried to connect with the ethernet cable direct to the modem but that doesn't work either.
I'm totally stumped...
