Windows 10 Desktop side bar has disappeared

The side bar on my win 10 laptop has disappeared and has been substituted by icons on the desktop, what I want is to restore it back to were it was, some advice and help please

are you talking about a task bar set to the side?
please post a image of what "side bar" you are talking about
