Windows 8 My HP windows 8.1 laptop won't start up properly

I have a HP windows 8.1 laptop. Yesterday it was working fine, but today it's not. It starts up to the part where it requires your password fine, but after I type in my password, it loads for a moment then goes to a grey screen and won't work. I haven't done anything to it so it seems very strange. If someone could help, that would be great, Thanks.
