Windows 7 Problem verizon usb modem withWRT54G router can't get internet connection thru router

I have a Verizon USB modem connection to my new dell 8100 desktop with windows 7. I connect to the internet with vzaccess manager. I have this computer connected (ethernet) to a WRT54G router so my laptop (Vista) can get internet connection thru the 8100. This connection worked when I had a desktop with XP. But I can not get it to work with Windows 7.
My desktop shows an unidentified network with no internet access (router), it also will not let me choose public or private. My laptop show a unified connection to my router with local and no internet connection, and I can see both computers but no router. My desktop can see both computers but no router. The router has a static ip address of 192.168.0.2. The laptop adapter is setup with auto configuration. the desktop is setup with auto configuration. It never would let me set up a connection to a network. It would not recognize my router. I updated the firmware on it today. And have tried resetting my router.

I have tried everything I can think of any help would be appreciated. I have worked with this all day and hunted for answer in different forums but could not find the solution.

Hi and welcome

I may be mistaken but I believe you are simply trying to set up an ad-hoc (or bridged) connection

verizon USB modem>>>>>>>>>8100 (win 7)><><><><><><><><>vista (laptop)

Are you running homegroup, or workgroup? IPv6, or IPv4?

Can you type ipconfig /all in search and upload a screenshot of the output?

I'm not sure why but it seems like everytime I restart it puts my VZAccess to a new #. I can get it to recognize linksys (sometimes as a home network) but not always

Can you help me? I put the information down but have not heard back. I can not do a bridged connection, I can see both computers but cannot connect to the internet. I have tried so many things I'm not sure if I missed something easy.

Share the VZAccess connection to wireless router by doing the following:

Plug Ethernet Cable from Dell 8100 to the WAN port on the router. Make sure to power on the Router.

Connect to VZAccess. Go into Network and Sharing Center - Change Adapter Settings. Go to properties on the VZAccess connection. Go to Sharing Tab - check "Allow other network users to connect..." - Select the drop down for Home Networking Connection and select the Local Area connection your Wireless Router is setup to.

This will set a static IP on the Router Local Area Connection and should allow other computers to connect to your shared VZAccess connection via the router.
