Hi!
I know where to find all Win32 settings and corresponding registry entries.
Since Windows 8 I found some problems with modern UI (or Metro) applications with their path and even have no idea how and where are settings stored.
So, where are located Windows 10 Applications settings - I want...
Hey guys,
As many are aware, we can install Android apps not only from the default store, but also from the internet, simply by downloading their ".apk" files, and installing them. It means that Android applications are installed from .apk files, implying the store simply installs it on your...

I have been hesitant to upgrade my wife's laptop from 8.1 to 10 because she exclusively uses the start screen (Aero, Metro, whatever its called). I did an upgrade for her a few months ago, but it wiped out all of the tiles that she had saved, so I had to revert back to 8.1. Is there a way to...
Hi
I have Windows 8 restored to my new SSD.
Seems to be working except for one strange problem.
Anything that should open on the desktop opens in the taskbar and I can't expand it.
For example if I click the IE icon on the taskbar it opens on the taskbar, but I can't make it any bigger...

Today I realized that I couldn't open Settings/Change PC Settings (in Charm Bar). I also couldn't open the Store from the Start Menu app. Finally, when I tried to open an app on the Metro Start, it just went to my desktop.
After much googling, I worked through the steps at this link...

I really hope Windows 10 does not get rid of the standard control panel that I and other Windows system admins are used to, in favor of the Metro one, nor the seamless, and highly accurate Device Stage feature, in favor of the generic icons in the Metro 'Settings' panel. I hope if anything...
I haven't been updating my windows for a while so decided to do it today. However when I finished the latest one, I was met by this:

Is it meant to do this? What can I do to get rid of this?
Thanks,
Oliver
Sorry for being unclear or posting in the wrong area.
Hi
I normally use the snipping tool but that doesn't work with open menus or Metro.
I'm pretty sure that it's doing it, I see a brief burst of hard drive activity when I hit the Print Screen button.
But I can't figure out where they go, since I don't know what they are called I can't search...

Hi,
I had an issue with the general user folder name, which was shown as "Alex_000".
Although this was a cosmetic issue only, I wanted to change this to "Alex".
I successfully managed this by changing about 50 entries in the registry (via regedit).
So fine so good.
Now I found...

I have been using an app/program (Rhapsody) that started crashing every time I started it. I decided to uninstall it and then reinstall it. I opened the control panel list of programs, clicked on Rhapsody, and chose "uninstall." Nothing seemed to happen but now Rhapsody is gone from that...

I get really frustrated w/ people saying or thinking there is nothing in Windows 8.1, from Microsoft, telling them, educating them or guiding them w/ enlightenment or instructions on How To use the OS. There is!! Yes, there is!
There problem isn't that it doesn't exist but, rather that people...

Tired of not being able to get into safe mode easily with Win 8, want to get rid of the Metro boot loader?

Okay so as an outsider to windows it seems that Microsofts move to come out with a new version of windows is both a laugh riot and a sad sight.
I think Microsoft done goofed once more and maybe its time to see how it can undo its mistake.

Hi
Because I have a lot of stuff it's kind of a pain that Windows 8 start screen adds 2 new columns when I add 2 items to a block of programs.
I end up with all these categories that have 2 or 3 icons off to the side when one new column would do it in a much more compact format. Some...
