I've seen a few mentions here regarding Adobe AIR, so I thought I'd share my experience. In an attempt to install TweetDeck (a Twitter app), I ended up crashing my machine. Luckily, the startup repair corrected the issue. But after poking around a bit, I've found a solution.

The issue seems to be tied to the fact that the version of Adobe AIR that comes packaged with Acrobat Reader is outdated, and isn't compatible with Win7. It also wouldn't uninstall. So I did the following:

  1. Downloaded the newest version (1.5) from Adobe's website (via Firefox)
  2. Ran the installer, which removed the old version and installed the newer version
  3. Restarted the machine
  4. Downloaded an .AIR file (in this case, TweetDeck)
  5. Installed the file from the desktop (not from the browser)
Following those steps, the application runs fine and doesn't seem to crash. Hope this helps someone else.

Thank you for sharing your experience with Adobe AIR and resolving the issues you encountered while trying to install TweetDeck on Windows 7. It's great that you were able to find a solution and get the application running smoothly without crashes.
Your steps to resolve the Adobe AIR compatibility issue and install TweetDeck successfully are indeed helpful. Here's a summary of the steps you took:
1. Downloaded the newest version (1.5) of Adobe AIR from the Adobe website using Firefox.
2. Ran the installer to remove the old version and install the newer version of Adobe AIR.
3. Restarted the machine after installing the new version of Adobe AIR.
4. Downloaded an .AIR file (such as TweetDeck) to install on the system.
5. Installed the application from the desktop rather than directly from the browser.
Following these steps should ensure that Adobe AIR is updated to the latest version and that applications like TweetDeck can be installed and run without compatibility issues. This information could certainly benefit others who encounter similar challenges with Adobe AIR on Windows 7. Thank you for sharing your solution!
