What is the invisible change? I wish I knew, but I can't see it, and that's part of the reason I'm coming to the forums with this problem in the first place. While I may not be an absolute expert on computers, I do know how to do a bit of my own research. However, faced with a problem that I...

After reloading the laptop (ProBook 4310s, Win 7 Home Prem) 3 times the problem keeps coming back. Firstly its slow and every 30-60 secs it jams for 5 secs at a time. On looking at the event viewer you can partly see why.

I was uninstalling IE9 because my son need to file on-line for unemployment, and our state website would only work with IE8. (I use FF as my main browser) Anyway, as I was uninstalling IE9, my son came into the room while I was out of the room and turned my computer off...
I have about 12 updates that are taking way too long to install. Right now they're at 65%, tomorrow they might be at 68%, or even 72%. But the point is that they never completely install. Normally I shut my computer off at the end of the work day but nothing updates before the computer shuts all...
I recently published a commentary/news video listed here about Windows 8 boot times.
People have been arguing ever since. One guy even claims he hasn't updated his computer ever since installing Windows 7 to improve his boot time. Too bad he has missed out on stability and reliability...

So last night I couldn't sleep and decided to log back onto my Acer to surf the web when I found 32-bit IE didn't work. It locks up instantly and can only be closed by ending the process from the process list in the task manager. 64-bit IE still works. Firefox and Opera both don't work. I'd be...
