I've got Windows 7 RC installed and have downloaded and installed the XP Mode files, which I've been curious to try out since I do a lot of work with VMs in VMWare Workstation. When I try to run Virtual Windows XP, I get the following error message:

Hi everyone,
I've been using Windows 7 Beta (6.1.7000) for a while and I haven't had any problems getting programs to install and run, until now. I recently tried to install Autodesk Inventor 2010 and the installation failed 2/3 of the way through with this error:
The error is fatal so the...

Hi all,
I've installed W7 on a Virtual Machine (WMWare) and all was OK!
Now I would like to start to connect W7 to a XP network... I can't understand how to make that thing...:(:(
And to connect to the internet?
Could you briefly explain how to make it?
Thank you
Marco

I have been using VMWare and VirtuaBox on Vista x64 bit successfully to create 64 bit guest OS (Windows 2003 x64 and Windows 2008 x64). But when using the same software and same images on Windows 7 x64, I received an error "... this CPU is not capable of support x64 bit OS..."

Hi guys
Another question for users of Build 7022.
On Build 7000 (X-32) vmware networking seemed to be broken -- on Bridged Networking you'd get message I/O overlap on vmnet0 - device will start disconnected. Same for vmnet8 (NAT).
This meant you would have problems on connecting to your LAN...
I installed VMware Workstation 5.5 on my Windows 7 beta, then installed XP SP3 in a VMware virtual machine. I didn't think I would be able to do this in Win7, but it works great!
Hi guys
Vmware workstation is a great tool --loads of people on these boards are using it.
However it's not particulrly cheap. Vmware do provide a free piece of software VMPLAYER but this can't CREATE Virtual machines .
Anyway there's a little piece of FREE software called QEMU (works both on...
Hi everyone who is using Vmware workstation. You've probably seen the _vmware_user on the logon screen when starting Windows 7. (both X32 and X-64 versions).
Whilst not a showstopper it would be nicer to hide it. Just looks a bit sloppy on a clear logon screen.
Anyway here's how to do it...
I've downloaded Windows 7 and running over VMware. I'm also using Elotouch monitors for multitouch experience. I've also downloaded and installed Elotouch's device driver.
Now I'm able to simulate the single touch by my finger on my monitor. My question is how can I simulate the multi touch...
Well I am glad that I found this board. Here is my dilemma. I installed VM ware and installed Windows 7 and all was well...I figured I would install this as my OS. I realize that its in beta however after the install which by the way I tried as a dual boot with my XP install....I rebooted...
When I try to run either workstation or player I get the message The VMWare authorisation service is not running. When I check in computer management, services, it's set to Automatic but it won't start. I get an error "service-specific code 6000002"
Anyone else get this? Anyone got past this?
Guys,
I have downloaded the offical 64bit windows 7 ultimate.
The problem I am having is as follows:
I have a c: partition with XP Professional
I have created a d: partition formatted with NTFS.
I have created a VMWARE client, and ran the dvd I created with the ISO I downloaded, and the...
I recently installed build 7000 on vmware, and have done so with other builds before that. Unfortunately I do not have a DVD writer and therefore cannot burn the Beta to disk. My question is: Is there any way to install an operating system without a disk, by using partitions or VHDs or...
I've tried mounting the ISO, DVD install, and VMware. Virtual Machine install works (just runs like crap in a box). The other two methods fail at last reboot. I've tried installing to 2nd partition (HDD 0) and second drive (HDD 1) with no joy.
I'm running Vista SP2 on an Intel Dual-Core box...

During the initial install, I had come across a few problems as a result of poor configuration, on my part, of VM. Hard drive would not detect, USB would not read, no sound, and no internet connectivity.
So just in case, for anyone who may be installing through virtual, the settings I found to...
