Announcing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 25247. This update comes with various enhancements, new features, and some notable fixes aimed at refining the Windows 11 experience. Here's a detailed breakdown of what you can expect from this build.

Key Features and Improvements​

Energy Recommendations​

Energy Recommendations are now available under Settings > System > Power & Battery > Energy Recommendations. These suggestions help improve your PC's energy efficiency and reduce its carbon footprint.

Task Manager Enhancements​

Several improvements have been made to Task Manager, including:
  • Process Filtering: Filter processes using
    the binary name, PID, or publisher name.
  • Theme Support: Task Manager can now respect your preferred theme independently of the system theme.
  • Efficiency Mode Dialog: New options to apply Efficiency Mode with fewer confirmations.

Quick Settings for Windows Studio Effects​

For devices with a supported Neural Processing Unit (NPU), Windows Studio effects can now be accessed directly from Quick Settings on the taskbar. This includes camera effects like Background Blur, Eye Contact, automatic framing, and audio effects like Voice Focus.

Start Menu and Taskbar Improvements​

  • Recommended Websites: Start Menu's Recommended section will now suggest websites based on your browsing history
    and region.
  • Show Seconds in System Tray Clock: This highly requested feature can now be toggled on via Settings > Personalization > Taskbar.

Microsoft Store Enhancements​

Jump list support has been added to the Microsoft Store taskbar icon, making it easier to return to key pages or discover new apps and games.

Fixes and Known Issues​

General Fixes​

  • Addressed issues where SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION bugchecks occurred.
  • Resolved problems with pseudolocalized text appearing unintentionally.

Taskbar and System Tray Fixes​

  • Fixed explorer.exe crashes affecting taskbar performance.
  • The system tray now properly shows the pin/unpin visual when dragging icons.

Settings Fixes​

  • Resolved crashes related to
    connecting and disconnecting Bluetooth devices.

File Explorer Fixes​

  • Fixed GDI handle leaks when opening the context menu.
  • Resolved issues with specific phones not showing up when connected via USB.

Known Issues​

  • Audio: Some users may experience audio issues after upgrading.
  • Taskbar: Tablet-optimized taskbar may appear cropped.
  • Task Manager: Issues with filtering and some dialogs not rendering in the correct theme.
  • Start Menu: Folders may not open on the first attempt.
  • Search: Issues with certain file types needing a backspace press to show results.
